Introducing the Google suite of Apps: Google Apps for Education (GAFE)

Today I’d like to introduce you to the Google Apps for Education (GAFE) which is the Google’s set of apps to help teachers and schools to introduce and implement technology in your classes.

Check out the website of GAFE: www.google.com/edu/

Among the most important apps of GAFE are:

  • Google Classroom: similar to Moodle
  • Google Drive: Cloud storage (like Dropbox)
  • Google Docs: like MS Word
  • Google Sheets: like MS Excel
  • Google Slides: like MS Powerpoint
  • Gmail: (email)

Many others are part of the suite too, but may be checked out later as one becomes more fluent in using Google apps:

  • Google Groups
  • Google Sites
  • Google Blogger
  • Google Calendar
  • Google Tasks
  • Google+

In the following blogs, I will go more into the details of these apps, and how we implemented them in our school MTI Vietnam.

 So stay tuned

Welcome note: Blog creation

Hi welcome to my blog.

Please allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Laurent, and I am a Vietnamese French living in Paris.

I have graduated with a B.S. in Physics (1996),

a M.S. in Computer Engineering (1998), a Master of Divinity (Asia Pacific Theological Seminary, 2008), and am currently working on my Doctor of Ministry at Knox Theological Seminary (exp. grad. 2017). I am also an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Vietnam. Recently I have also passed the Google’s Certified Educator’s certification (level 1).

Thought I work as an IT Consultant to support my ministries, I have been involved for many years in Missions and particularly in Biblical Education as I have been ministering as Principal of Master’s Theological Institute Vietnam (www.mti-vietnam.com) since 2008.

My great passion is to serve God and bring glory to him, by educating future and current pastors and leaders wherever they may be (Vietnam, France, and Cambodia so far). To do so, I use my unique set of skills in Theology, Education, Technology to bring them together and apply them to teaching, and the development of Biblical Education in the 21st century.

The purpose of this blog is to tell the story of how I use these three apparently different disciplines (theology, education, and technology) and apply them to teaching and developing our Bible school, Master’s Theological Institute Vietnam (MTI Vietnam)

I hope that as you read you will enjoy reading these upcoming blogs. Please do not hesitate to comment on these.

And if you’d be interested in joining this journey, or would like to ask for advises in implementing Google Apps for Education in your ministry, please do not hesitate to contact me
